Food poster. Procedure A.
WARM-UP 1.
Stand by the door
and greet the pupils as they arrive. 2.
Pin up the My
Food poster on the board. Allow the pupils some time to look at it. Then,
ask the pupils to close their eyes. Cover with a slip of paper one of the food
items (as well as the corresponding word). Ask the pupils to open their eyes.
Ask a pupil to tell you which food item is missing. Uncover the item and check
the pupil’s answer. Repeat the procedure as many times as you think is
necessary. B.
WELCOME TO 1.
Pupils’ books open (Додаток
А). Point to the picture and explain to pupils that
people in the 2.
Preparation for the
project work Pupils’ Language
portfolios open on the p. 10 (Додаток Б). Ask the pupils to
name the food on this page. Ask the pupils what food they like and what food
they do not like. Ask them to do the
task and to write the names of food items in the order you like them most. Pupils
do the task by themselves and after finishing present their results. C. PROJECT TIME (A personalisation activity.) Read.
Then, write about you. Refer the pupils to the project on p.
30 and comment on the picture. Explain to the pupils that they have
to do the same on p. 31. Alternatively, you can ask the pupils to produce their
project on a piece of paper. They can use pictures or drawings. Point that
these drawings they can add to their Language Portfoilios. Go round the class
as the pupils work on their projects and provide any necessary help.
D. FOLLOW-UP (SHOPPING LIST) - Divide the class into groups. Ask
them to work together and decide on the food items they all like and make a
shopping list with those food items. Then, the groups read out their shopping
list to the rest of the class. - If you wish, you can ask the pupils
to do the Yummy! activity from the Sticker Stop (p. 66). If you do so, ask the
pupils to show you the stickers for verification before sticking them on the
corresponding squares.
